Cryoskin Fat Freezing vs SculpSure Laser Treatment

What is the Best Fat Reduction Treatment for Your Business?

Struggling to lose those stubborn pockets of fat which refuse to budge is a common problem that many patients experience. Thankfully, there are now a number of different non-invasive fat loss treatments available to resolve this problem. This means no need for invasive surgeries such as liposuction that can leave your patients in pain and recovering for an extended period of time.

But when every fat reduction technology claims to be the best, how do you know which is the right system for your business? This post will compare two of the most popular fat removal procedures, Cryoskin’s fat freezing and SculpSure’s laser-based treatment. But rather than just reading what the companies have to say about their own equipment, this comparison is based on real client experiences and reviews and our first-hand experience of using Cryoskin at our own practice.

What is Cryoskin Fat Freezing?

Cryoskin uses the technique of fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis, to kill and break apart fat cells in the treated area by using very cold temperatures. Cryoskin combines this technique with a heated massage, mimicking the body’s natural process of apoptosis. This unique heating and cooling effect is delivered through a wand-like device which gently massages the body. This process triggers the lymphatic system to flush out the dead fat cells from the body.

The Cryoskin machine has 3 different functions: CryoSlimming, CryoToning and the CryoFacial So not only are can you slim and tone away stubborn pockets of fat, but patients can use the CryoFacial to firm and tighten their skin and fight the effects of ageing and other skin conditions. The device is incredibly easy to use, so you don’t need to be a medical practitioner to deliver amazing results to your customers.

What is SculpSure?

If SculpSure sounds familiar, you may have heard of it through celebrity spokesperson Brooke Shields. But what exactly is it? SculpSure is a non-invasive body contouring system which reduces fat by using laser wavelengths. Rather than using cold vapours like Cryoskin, SculpSure utilises the heat from the machine to target fat cells. Like Cryoskin, these fat cells are destroyed and then flushed out through the lymphatic system over a period of a few months. The SculpSure device uses four non-suction applicators which can be configured several different ways to achieve your patient’s desired results.

How Much Weight Can You Lose With Cryoskin?

While many patients think of these treatments as weight loss procedures, they are actually targeted at removing unwanted fat pockets. What’s the difference? Rather than noticing a huge difference on the scale, patients are more likely to see visible results such as centimetres lost from their waistline and their clothes fitting more loosely.

Cryoskin patients are able to lose an average of 1 to 2 cm per session with an average fat reduction rate of 38%, with some clients seeing up to a 44% reduction of fat in their targeted areas. Most customers will see these results immediately after the first session, with the best results appearing 2 to 3 weeks afterwards. For optimal patient results, it is recommended to have 3 to 6 sessions, but this will depend on each individual. These instantly noticeable results are very encouraging for patients to continue with their treatment, as many people can feel discouraged or get impatient waiting for results to appear.

Cryoskin treatments also increase the body’s production of collagen and are effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite. Additionally, the CryoFaceLift feature is able to treat skin conditions such as rosacea, offer facial rejuvenation and reduce the effects of ageing. Depending on the treatment area, most Cryoskin sessions will take approximately 20 to 40 minutes. The results of Cryoskin are permanent, however a healthy diet and exercise are recommended to stop the remaining fat cells from inflating over time.

How Much Weight Can You Lose with SculpSure?

Like Cryoskin, SculpSure is not necessarily a solution for weight loss, but it instead contours the body through localised fat reduction. Most treatments will result in an approximate 24% fat reduction in the treated area. These results will vary depending on the patient and will take around 6 to 12 weeks to appear. The SculpSure machine’s only function is to reduce fat. So unlike Cryoskin, it is not able to lift the skin, reduce cellulite or provide any anti-ageing and skin health benefits.

SculpSure treatments take approximately 25 minutes and most patients will require 1 to 3 sessions, depending on their personal goals. Similar to Cryoskin, SculpSure permanently eliminates fat cells, but as with any fat loss treatment, a healthy diet and regular exercise are recommended to maintain these results.

Does Cryoskin Hurt?

The Cryoskin fat freezing treatment has been described by 88% of customers as comfortable, relaxing and painless, with some describing it as similar to receiving a massage. There is no downtime involved which is great for customers with a busy schedule. We have found that most customers find this experience enjoyable, and for those that are sensitive to the cold, it is no worse than rubbing an ice pack to the treated area. As you probably already know, a comfortable experience will have your customers coming back for more sessions and recommending it to their friends.

Does SculpSure Hurt?

There are some mixed client reviews online about the SculpSure body contouring experience as it can be very dependent on the patient’s pain tolerance. The SculpSure site describes the process as ‘most patients feel a deep warmth and/or tingling sensation intermittently throughout the treatment which is generally well-tolerated’. However, this is not the always the case. One patient described the experience as ‘not tolerable’ and ‘like fire’, leaving them ‘wanting to scream’. Another customer described the experience as ‘uncomfortable enough that I had to keep my eyes closed and focus on deep breathing’. Those reviews are certainly enough to turn most people off from ever trying the procedure!

As with Cryoskin, there is no expected recovery time for the procedure. But with the unpredictability of the SculpSure treatment, it is difficult to know how each person will react. You don’t want to promise your clients a comfortable experience and then deliver a treatment that makes them experience a level of pain alike to that of fire.

What are the Side Effects of SculpSure?

While SculpSure is a relatively safe procedure, there can be some side effects involved.

These include:

• Soreness and stiffness which can last a few days

• Pain and swelling

• Bruising

• Tingling and redness

• Firmness and nodules

SculpSure is also a relatively new treatment so there have not been extensive reports on the possible side effects.

What are the Side Effects of Cryoskin Fat Freezing?

Side effects from Cryoskin treatments are uncommon. However, some people may experience:

• Increased thirst and urination for up to 3 days

• Localised redness and soreness in the treatment area which fades within a few hours

• Itching due to the use of certain cosmetic products

• Delayed onset muscle soreness which subsides within a few hours

How Much Does SculpSure Cost?

SculpSure is a product of Cynosure which is a large company selling multiple products worldwide. However, when looking through their website, they are not upfront about any of their costs. To receive more detailed information about the product, you have to submit a form providing all of your contact details. As a potential customer, this can make you question the integrity of the company and makes you wonder if they are trying to hide something from you. Would you rather work with a company that is up front and transparent about costs, or one that makes you jump through hoops to find the information you need?

So, Should You Choose Cryoskin or SculpSure for Your Clinic?

While both these treatments have proven to be effective in reducing stubborn pockets of fat in patients, there are several key differences which makes Cryoskin stand out as the best fat reduction technology.

1. The Cryoskin device is multifunctional, whereas the SculpSure machine just does the one thing. With just one Cryoskin machine you can slim, tone and lift, reduce cellulite and other skin conditions and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

2. The results are much quicker with Cryoskin. Having noticeable results after just one session is what makes Cryoskin the leader of fat reduction technology. Rather than waiting 6 to 12 weeks to see a change, Cryoskin patients can see results straight away, which is very encouraging and leads to high customer satisfaction.

3. Cryoskin is a comfortable and enjoyable experience. While SculpSure claims to be a tolerable treatment for most, there are a lot of negative reviews online with customers detailing their painful experiences. It definitely pays to do your research first and see what customers think about the service.

4. The cost of the Cryoskin machine is upfront. FloAesthetics are a transparent company with no hidden costs and are there to help you succeed. We couldn’t find any easily available info on pricing for the SculpSure device, which to us definitely doesn’t build a trustworthy relationship. This indicates they could be difficult to work with and are more interested in making a sale than being honest with their clients.
